About
Swainby Country Park, first became a holiday park in the 1930s. The original accommodations were less than salubrious, amounting to little more than large garden sheds.
When overseas and some internal travel became difficult during the 2nd World War, many people travelled to the park for family holidays, indeed the park was frequently visited by newly married couples for their honeymoons.
Swainby Country Park, is situated right at the heart of the village, and has always been a family owned park. When it was acquired by the Maguire family in 2008 there were few creature comforts here... No electricity, mains water or drainage, and the sheep were the natural lawn mowers.
It is now a nature lovers paradise with some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK right on its doorstep.
